2000

“Refugee” was Kareena’s debut film in the bollywood. The story of film was based on refugees from Bangladesh. Kareena portrayed the character of a Bangladeshi refugee girl Naazneen aka Naaz who falls in love with an Indian refugee boy Abhishek Bacchan named “Refugee’ who was helping her family to cross the border illegally. Other than Abhishek, a Pakistani rangers’ officer (played by Suniel Shetty) also loves Kareena (Naaz) and thus various sub sequences happen. Meanwhile, Naaz got pregnant and after many twists in the story, finally at the last, Kareena and Abhishek reunite. Film’s music, given by Annu Malik became very popular that year. Kareena earned Filmfare Best Female Debut award that year for “Refugee”.

2001

In the year 2001, Kareena’s five big films released which are: Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, Yaaden, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam, Ajnabi and Asoka.

“Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai” was Kareena’s second film. Veteran actor Jitendra’s son Tushar Kapoor made his debut via this film. Annu Malik gave the music and all the songs got very popular and topped the countdown. The story revolves around Karan ( Tushar kapoor) & Pooja Saxena (Kareena Kapoor). Karan is not good at studies but a very nice person. On the other hand, Pooja is very studious, intelligent and good at heart. Karan sees Pooja one day and falls in love. He searches everywhere for her but when he met her, their car met with an accident. Karan saves Pooja’s life but got injured himself and was taken to the hospital. Pooja searches for Karan. Meanwhile, Karan gets well soon and finds Pooja and both become friends. Karan could never tell Pooja his feelings and Pooja planned to go abroad to pursue higher studies. At the climax, Pooja realized her love for Karan and both reunite. Rinke Khanna played role of Karan’s cousin. Film was a big hit of the year and specially loved by the young crowd.

“Ajnabi” was a hit suspense thriller. Film’s story revolves around two young couples that are neighbours. Raj Malhotra (Bobby Deol) & Priya (Kareena Kapoor) fall in love, get married and enter Switzerland to live in a new house. There, they meet neighbors, an Indian couple Vikram ( Akshay Kumar) & Sonia (Bipasha Basu). They become friends but some riffs happened between bobby and Akshay one day. Then suddenly, Sonia (Vikram’s wife) got murdered and police arrests Raj as her murderer. Then Raj runs out from police and discovers the truth of Sonia’s death. Finally Raj and Priya unite and lives happily ever after.

“Yaaden” was a emotional romantic drama of Isha Puri ( Kareena) and Ronit ( Hrithik Roshan) which also highlighted father daughter relationship together. Kareena had two other sisters and Raj Puri (Jackie Shroff) played Kareena’s father. Film did average business at box-office but music given by Annu Malik was super hit. Audience liked Hrithik and Kareena’s pair.

Asoka was a period film and first time Kareena Kapoor was casted opposite Shahrukh Khan. King Khan played lead role of king Asoka and Kareena portrayed the role of Kaurwaki, the princess of Kalinga. Film was flopped despite of high expectations but once again music given by Annu Malik & Sandeep Chowta was hit. Kareena received filmfare best actress nomination for the film.

Kabhi Khushi kabhi gam was a emotional family drama by Karan Johar with all big stars. Kareena played Kajol’s sister in the film. Her character “Pooja aka Poo” in the movie was a stylish, proud girl who falls in love with Hrithik. Music was given by Jatin-Lalit and it was huge hit. Film did very good business in India and on of highest grossing Hindi films in overseas. Kareena got a filmfare best supporting actress nomination for the movie.

2002

In 2002, two of Kareena’s films released. “Jeena Sirf Mere Liye” with Tushar Kapoor and “Mujhse Dosti karoge”.

Film was love triangle with Tina( Kareena), Raj (Hrthik) & Pooja( Rani). Tina, Pooja and Raj are childhood friends. In childhood, Raj used to like Tina but he went abroad and never sees Tina again. Pooja writes letters to Raj portraying herself as Tina.  When Raj returned in young age and sees Tina he got flattered by her beauty and both decided to get marry. Meanwhile, he comes to know the letters were written by Pooja not Tina and thus decided to marry Pooja. At last, Tina comes to know everything and sacrifices for Pooja and Raj.

2003:

In the year 2003, Kareena has four releases but all got flopped. These are: “Talash: the hunt begins” opposite Akshay kumar, ” Mei prem ki Deewani Hoon” with Hrithik and Abhishek, “Khushi” opposite Fardeen Khan and J P Dutta’s multistarer “LOC Kargil”.

2004:

Year 2004 was a lucky year for Kareena. Her films Chameli, Dev, Aitraaz, Yuva, Hulchal and Fida were released.

Chameli was the film in which Kareena got chance to introduce herself to parallel cinema for the very first time. Despite being an art film, film’s music was a huge hit.

Once again, after a long period of many years, Raja comes back to her life and film progresses.

2006
This year, Kareena had three releases: Omkara, Chup Chup ke and 36 China Town.

In this multi starred Bundelkhandi  drama, Kareena played the character of innocent girl Dolly Mishra who eventually falls in love with Omkara ( Ajay Devgan) and lives with him against wish of his father. some mis- understandings happen and Omi kills Dolly thinking she is a cheater. Music also was given by Vishal Bhardwaj and it was a huge hit album of the year.

2007
2007 proved to be best year for Kareena. This year Kareena had just one release, Jab we Met but that created history.

Jab We Met is the most popular film in Kareena’s career till now for which Kareena won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. Kareena portrayed character of an innocent punjabi girl “Geet” who is very talkative but good at heart and only lives in today. Sad young man Aditya (Shahid Kapur) meets her on the way to Bhatinda in a train then they miss their train. Geet and Aditya covers their journey together till Bhatinda, which make them friends, but later Aditya realizes he is in love with Geet. Pritam gave music, which was highest grossing music of the year. Kareena is still remembered for her performance in the film.

2008

In the year 2008, Kareena’s Tashan & Golmal Returns released. Golmal Returns was a hit.

Kurbaan was plotted on terrorism in USA post 9/11. Film was produced by Karan Johar. Kareena gave extremely bold and steamy scenes with beau Saif for the film and played a powerful character of Avantika, who fights against terrorism. Kareena was nominated for Filmfare best actress award for the film. Saif played a negative role in the film.

December 2009 release “3 idiots” marked history.Ithas become the “highest grossing bollywood movie of all time. This film is the single award sweeper in all the award ceremonies. Kareena portrayed  ”Piya” a doctor, love interest of Rancho (Aamir Khan), an engineering student. Piya is also the daugther of “Viru Sahastrabudhhe” ( Boman Irani), dean of Aamir’s Engineering college. Kareena got filmfare best actress nomination for this film as well.

2010
This year, none of Kareena’s films have released till now but soon she will be seen in “Milenge Milenge”, ” Love You Maa”, “Kismat Talkies”, “Dhruv”, “Agent Vinod”, “R A One” & “Golmal 3″
