Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor wanted to be a film star and like her sister before her she was never opposed by the family for joining the film industry.
Kareena Kapoor gets it straight that neither of her parents ever opposed her or her sister Karisma Kapoor for joining the industry.
The actress who hails from, once the first family of Bollywood (now a title given to the Bachchans), the Kapoor clan, joined films after her older sister Karisma Kapoor had, had a successful stint in the industry. First cousin Ranbir Kapoor is also a popular youth actor of recent times.
Kareena told the tabloids, “I want to get this straight that my father was never against my joining films. It is true that the women of the Kapoor family never stepped onto the silver screen, but my father is neutral about it. He has never opposed Karisma or me when we decided to join the movies. He has always said that if you wish to be there then you must get out there and fight your own battle and make a name for yourself.”
Added the actress, “I have done my share of good as well as bad films, but my father never probed me about anything.” He has always said, “Do what you wish to do but make sure you don’t make me wince.”
The Bollywood diva also mentioned that she always saw a twinkle in her father’s eye every time she called him to watch a movie or for instance when he called her up and applauded her for Bodyguard or congratulated her for her waxwork figure at Madame Tussauds. “So evidently I have made him proud.”
The actress says that her success is not because of her family connections, but purely because luck seemed to be on her side.
